Aracataca, Magdalena, Colombia – The decapitated corpse of a young man identified as Jair B. was discovered in a rural area of Aracataca. The victim’s head was found stuck on a fence post, while the body was located on a dirt road nearby.
Aracataca, famous as the birthplace of Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez and the real-life inspiration for the fictional town of Macondo in his novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” has seen increased tensions due to disputes between armed groups. No motive for the murder has been determined yet.
