11 Individuals Killed in Armed Confrontation Close to Colombia’s Putumayo-Caquetá Border

A clash between dissident factions in Colombia near the border of Putumayo and Caquetá provinces has led to the death of a minimum of 11 individuals. The incident of violence took place in José María village, where two factions of the FARC—Raúl Reyes, led by the alias Calarcá, and the Border Command under Walter Mendoza’s leadership—engaged in conflict over the weekend. Officials have verified the discovery of 11 deceased individuals: eight in Solita (Caquetá) and three in Puerto Guzmán (Putumayo), although the precise number of casualties remains uncertain.
