Tragic Lightning Strike Claims Life of Amateur Soccer Player in Peru
A shocking incident during a championship match in Chilca, Peru, led to the tragic death of 39-year-old amateur soccer player José Hugo de la Cruz Meza, while seven others were injured following a double lightning strike. As players were leaving the field after a nearby strike, a second bolt hit, causing de la Cruz and his teammates to collapse. A 40-year-old goalkeeper, who was closest to de la Cruz, remains in critical condition in the hospital.
