A serious traffic accident claimed the lives of a mother and her son on Sunday morning (24) in Caruaru, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the tragedy occurred around 6:40 am on the BR-104 overpass ramp at the access to BR-232. Sandriel Hugo Ferreira, 19, was driving the motorcycle, taking his mother Cibele da Conceição, 38, to work at the Caruaru Fair.
The motorcyclist lost control on a wet stretch of road at km 129. The motorcycle violently slammed into the metal guardrail, throwing both riders off.
Cibele da Conceição died instantly at the scene from her injuries. Her son was rescued by firefighters and transported to the Agreste Regional Hospital (HRA) but died en route.
The bodies were sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Caruaru. The case remains under investigation as a fatal traffic accident.
