Successful Replantation of a Severed Arm After Workplace Accident
limb replantation, arm amputation, emergency surgery, workplace accident, muscle ischemia.
A worker who lost his arm in a severe workplace accident has undergone a successful limb replantation. The amputation occurred above the elbow, making it a major surgical challenge due to the high muscle mass, which is highly susceptible to necrosis without blood supply. Surgeons had a critical 4–6 hour window to perform the procedure before irreversible damage set in. Thanks to rapid medical intervention and proper cooling of the severed limb, doctors were able to reattach the arm, potentially saving the patient from life-threatening complications caused by muscle breakdown.
