In Ecuador’s Bellavista prison, located 80 km from Quito, a brutal clash between rival gangs Los Bolos and R7 in May 2022 left 43 inmates dead. Many victims were beheaded, with dismembered bodies chopped apart and deliberately stacked on top of each other. Just over two months later, another violent riot erupted in the same facility, claiming at least 13 more lives.
